We’ve all spotted litter along paths and creeks at one point or another, and besides harming wildlife, water quality and outdoor recreation, much of that material could be recycled. Trash cleanups are a simple way to make a real difference and have fun doing it.
In honor of Earth Day, NWA Recycles put together this cleanup recycling guide to help Northwest Arkansas residents protect our natural resources. Much like our previous event recycling toolkit, this guide is a one-stop shop for all of the essential information: how to find cleanup events near you or organize your own, get the equipment you need, and safely and reliably recycle the cans and bottles you find.
You don’t have to run a perfect cleanup or grab every scrap of litter around town to make a genuine
and worthwhile difference. Every effort helps. Just clean up something. In doing so, you’re saving materials and energy and protecting yourself and your neighbors, both human and non-human alike. You’re protecting the neighborhoods, trails and streams that we love and that make Northwest Arkansas our favorite corner of the Natural State.
And you can put this guide to use right away, either on your own or as part of one of the cleanups happening around Northwest Arkansas this weekend, including in Fayetteville and Siloam Springs.
Happy Earth Day, and thank you for helping keep Northwest Arkansas clean.
