Bin Tips
Use two recycling bins provided by the city at no cost: Put plastic bottles (marked #1 or #2), glass bottles and metal cans in one, then put paper and cardboard in the other.
Tidy Up
Give bottles, cans and jars a rinse, keep the paper and cardboard dry and clean, and flatten cardboard boxes. Don’t bag any of them; keep them loose.
Yard Waste
Put yard waste in brown paper bags or in non-city trash cans labeled “yard waste.” This waste will be composted or mulched at a city facility.

Businesses with about as much recycling per week as a residential home can participate in the residential curbside service.

Paper
For businesses with a large amount of paper each week, a 4-yard container with weekly pickup is available for a monthly charge.
Glass
For a monthly charge, participating businesses receive a 95-gallon cart for pickup twice a week.
Cardboard
For larger cardboard users, pickup is available up to five times a week with several sizes of dumpster available for a monthly charge.
Food Waste
Send kitchen waste to the city’s compost facility using a cart that’s picked up three times per week for a monthly charge. Napkins and other food-soiled paper products, baked goods and pasta, fruits and vegetables, processed foods and cooked meats are all accepted.

University of Arkansas Campus
Around Campus
Bins and dumpsters for aluminum and steel cans, paper, cardboard, glass and #1 and #2 plastic bottles are available throughout the campus and its buildings.
Food waste from dining halls also goes into the city’s composting program.
Batteries & Electronics
Drop off batteries, cell phones and other electronics for recycling at the U of A Bookstore at 616 N. Garland Ave.
Events on Campus
Borrow recycling receptacles and get signs and other information from the Office for Sustainability at 479-575-3715 or sustain@uark.edu. Recyclables can then be returned to the office after the event.
