Residents, schools, nonprofits and businesses in Northwest Arkansas will have a chance to responsibly dispose of old electronics at a free recycling event in Springdale.
The event runs from 8 a.m. to 2 pm on Saturday, March 29 at Arvest Ballpark.
Hosted by the Boston Mountain Solid Waste District, the event is part of the organization’s mission to provide environmentally sound and economically feasible solutions through waste reduction, reuse, recycling, composting and education.
Accepted items include computers, monitors, phones, TVs, cables, stereos, microwaves, DVD/VCR players, video game consoles, and more. Participants must unload their own items and are limited to 10 items per vehicle.
The timing aligns well with spring cleaning season across Northwest Arkansas. Many residents use this time of year to clean out garages, closets and storage spaces — often uncovering outdated electronics they no longer use. With tax season also in full swing, it’s common for individuals and small businesses to upgrade technology, making secure disposal even more important. This event offers a rare opportunity for rural households, schools and nonprofits to responsibly recycle electronics at no cost.
Proper disposal of electronics plays a critical role in reducing landfill waste and promoting data-safe recycling. Regionally, companies such as Rogers-based eSCO process approximately 1.5 million pounds of electronics each month. Common items include laptops, phones, servers and TVs. Devices are either refurbished and resold or broken down into raw materials through verified downstream partners. The Rogers business was the first U.S. company to earn the e-Stewards certification, the industry’s most rigorous standard for secure, sustainable electronics recycling. Its work highlights the infrastructure and expertise that exist within the region to manage e-waste.
Altogether, the Springdale event is a convenient opportunity for the public to support waste diversion efforts and contribute to regional sustainability. For more information on the Springdale E-Waste event, visit the Boston Mountain Solid Waste District event webpage.
