Neighbors NWA is expanding its rural recycling services to Goshen, offering curbside collection to residents who previously had limited options for recycling. This expansion addresses a growing demand for accessible waste diversion services in non-municipal areas of Northwest Arkansas.
Unlike other waste-hauling services in Benton and Washington counties, Neighbors NWA stands out as the only company offering a dedicated recycling-only option for rural customers. This unique service provides an easy and reliable way for residents to participate in sustainability efforts without the need to transport recyclables themselves. Recycling services start at $10 per month, while combined trash and recycling services start at $35 per month, making it an affordable and convenient solution for rural households.
The program simplifies recycling through a bag-based system:
- Blue bags for paper and small cardboard
- Green bags for aluminum, steel cans, and plastic bottles (#1 and #2 plastics)
- Flattened cardboard bundled separately
This initiative aims to make recycling convenient for rural residents, reducing landfill waste and encouraging sustainable habits. Goshen’s early adoption rates in February have been promising, with strong participation that has even required Neighbors NWA to adjust logistics due to higher-than expected recycling volumes.
“Our mission is simple: to make recycling accessible for everyone, regardless of where they live,” said Alex Joannes, owner of Neighbors NWA. “By investing in recycling now, we are building the infrastructure that will allow us to divert more waste from landfills in the future.”
Joannes emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating, “The best thing people can do is reduce and reuse. Recycling is the third step in the process, and we want to help make it as seamless as possible for our neighbors.”
By expanding services, Neighbors NWA continues its mission of making recycling more accessible across Northwest Arkansas. Residents interested in participating can sign up for curbside recycling to help divert waste and support local sustainability efforts.
