Several local leaders in commercial recycling will gather for a Zoom panel at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, to discuss the challenges and opportunities for recycling in the business world.

Representatives from Rogers-based eSCO Processing & Recycling, the City of Fayetteville, Rogers-based Food Loops and Pack Rat Outdoor Center in Fayetteville will speak on their recycling experiences and perspectives during the next Onward Ozarks event.

The event was organized in partnership with the Northwest Arkansas Council and its recycling program NWA Recycles. The Council is working with several cities and regional partners to improve recycling systems, publicize information about how they work, and expand their reach, including into the business community.

Business recycling is a major area of opportunity for the region, with local establishments across industries that go through impressive amounts of cardboard, glass bottles and other recyclables. But crossing the bridge from creating waste to recycling it is often a challenge, given the logistics, time, space and other resources needed. These speakers will be able to share their insights and experiences into how recycling systems can work in a business context.

Onward Ozarks is a quarterly speaker series created by the Council to provide organizations, companies and individuals a platform to share news, events and other information with a regional audience.

Previous sessions focused on planned improvements to Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA) and the COVID-19 situation in the area. Randy Wilburn, founder and host of the popular “I Am Northwest Arkansas” podcast, serves as series host and moderator.
